2011 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin? ? Chickasaw National Recreation Area Available February 9

WASHINGTON - The United States Mint today announced the release of the 2011 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin - Chickasaw National Recreation Area (Oklahoma) at noon Eastern Time (ET) on February 9.  The bureau is offering the coin at the new reduced price of $204.95.  As with all products sold by the United States Mint containing precious metals, pricing is subject to change.  The maximum mintage for this coin has been set at 35,000 units.  There will be no household limit in effect for the product.


2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Set? - El Yunque National Forest Available February 7

WASHINGTON - The United States Mint will begin accepting orders for the 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Set - El Yunque National Forest on February 7 at noon Eastern Time (ET).

WASHINGTON - The first 2012 coin in the United States Mint's America the Beautiful Quarters Program - honoring Puerto Rico's El Yunque National Forest - entered into circulation on January 23.  At noon Eastern Time (ET) on February 3, the bureau will offer collectible bags and rolls of the El Yunque National Forest quarter for sale at its Web site, http://www.usmint.gov/catalog.  The 100-coin bags are priced at $34.95, and the two-roll sets (40-coins per roll) are priced at $32.95.  These prices are significantly lower than those charged for America the Beautiful Quarters Bags and Rolls products in 2011.  


United States Mint Lowers Prices for Several 2012 Numismatic Products

WASHINGTON - The United States Mint is pleased to announce that it is reducing or maintaining 2011 prices for some of its most popular products to be offered in 2012.  The bureau was able to set these lower prices and maintain others by refining the product costing process, taking advantage of current lower prices for precious metals and negotiating better pricing from its suppliers.

WASHINGTON - Sales for the 2012 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set will open on January 17, 2012, at noon Eastern Time (ET).  The set - still priced at $14.95 - contains proof versions of the new quarters scheduled for release this year with reverse (tails side) designs honoring El Yunque National Forest (Puerto Rico), Chaco Culture National Historical Park (New Mexico), Acadia National Park (Maine), Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park (Hawaii) and Denali National Park and Preserve (Alaska).  The obverse of the coins (heads side) features a restored version of the 1932 John Flanagan portrait of George Washington.

WASHINGTON - The United States Mint's first numismatic offering of the new year will be the 2012 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof SetTM.  The set - available for purchase starting at noon Eastern Time (ET) on January 10 - contains proof versions of the third set of five coins in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program struck in 90 percent silver.  The coins bear reverse (tails side) designs honoring El Yunque National Forest (Puerto Rico), Chaco Culture National Historical Park (New Mexico), Acadia National Park (Maine), Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park (Hawaii) and Denali National Park and Preserve (Alaska).  The obverse of the coins (heads side) features a restored version of the 1932 John Flanagan portrait of George Washington. 


James Garfield $1 Coin Cover Available December 29

WASHINGTON - The United States Mint will accept orders for the James Garfield $1 Coin Cover starting noon Eastern Time (ET) on December 29, 2011.  The limited-edition coin cover includes two circulating quality 2011 James Garfield Presidential $1 Coins from the first day of mintage at the United States Mint - September 8, 2011, for the United States Mint at Philadelphia, and September 1, 2011, for the United States Mint at Denver.  The coins are mounted on a handsome display card with a 44-cent postage stamp.  The postmark of "November 17, 2011" marks the day the James Garfield Presidential $1 Coins were first released to the public.

WASHINGTON - The United States Mint Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Set - James Garfield will be available for purchase starting at noon Eastern Time (ET) on December 22, 2011.  The set includes an uncirculated quality James Garfield Presidential $1 Coin and a bronze medal bearing the same likeness of Lucretia Garfield that appears on the First Spouse Gold Coin struck in her honor.  The coin and medal are encased in a durable plastic card that is enhanced with beautiful representations of the portraits of the President and first lady, with issuance information on the back.


United States Mint Announces Designs for the 2012 Star-Spangled Banner Commemorative Coins

WASHINGTON - The United States Mint today announced the designs for the Star-Spangled Banner Commemorative Coins, scheduled for release in 2012.  The Star-Spangled Banner Commemorative Coin Act (Act) (Public Law 111-232) authorizes the bureau to mint and issue up to 100,000 gold $5 coins and 500,000 silver $1 coins to commemorate the bicentennial of the writing of our national anthem.  The coins will be available in proof and uncirculated qualities.  The Act requires that the coins' designs be emblematic of the War of 1812, particularly the Battle of Baltimore that formed the basis for the lyrics of "The Star-Spangled Banner."

WASHINGTON - Collectors may begin placing their orders for the United States Mint's 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Set - Chickasaw National Recreation Area (Okla.) on December 20, 2011, at noon Eastern Time (ET).  The set contains two uncirculated quality Chickasaw National Recreation Area quarters - one each from the United States Mint facilities at Philadelphia and Denver - and one proof quality quarter from the United States Mint at San Francisco.  The coins are mounted on a durable plastic card that includes a brief description of the site and the coin design, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity on the back.

United States Mint Launches 10th America the Beautiful Quarters? Coin

SULPHUR, Okla. - The century-old ornamental flowerbeds of Flower Park served as the backdrop today for the United States Mint's official launch ceremony of the new quarter honoring the Chickasaw National Recreation Area.  The coin's reverse (tails side) design depicts the Lincoln Bridge, built of limestone and dedicated in 1909 to celebrate the centennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth.  The bridge is the first constructed improvement in the national recreation area and a favorite scenic spot.  Inscriptions are CHICKASAW, OKLAHOMA, 2011 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.


James Garfield Presidential $1 Coin Rolls Available November 17

WASHINGTON - The Presidential $1 Coin honoring James Garfield will be released on November 17, 2011.  At noon Eastern Time (ET) the same day, the United States Mint will begin accepting orders for collectible rolls of 25 circulating quality coins each.   Each roll contains coins from either the United States Mint at Philadelphia or Denver priced at $39.95 each.  They are wrapped in specially designed paper that displays the mint of origin ("P" or "D") and "$25," the face value of its contents. 


United States Mint at West Point Accepted in New Energy Efficiency Program for Manufacturing Facilities

WASHINGTON - The United States Mint is pleased to announce that its West Point facility has been accepted in the Department of Energy's Superior Energy PerformanceCM program, in the Northeast energy management demonstration project.  Enrollment in the program is one of the many steps the bureau is taking to "green" the production of America's coins.  The program is expected to launch nationally in 2012.

Congressional Gold Medal Presented to Nisei Soldiers of World War II

WASHINGTON - The Congressional Gold Medal was presented collectively today to the U.S. Army's 100th Infantry Battalion (INF BN), the 442nd Regimental Combat Team (RCT) and the Military Intelligence Service (MIS) - also known as Nisei Soldiers of World War II - during a ceremony in the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center's Emancipation Hall.  The medal, designed and struck by the United States Mint, is in recognition of the Nisei Soldiers' dedicated service during World War II.
